Avalanche warning for region Lofoten og Vesterålen Monday 17.04.2023

Generally stabile conditions, but if the snow is soft and wet you can trigger wet avalanches in steep terrain. Glide avalanches are possible. Keep distance to cornices and glide-cracks.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Snødekket består av variert gammel snø. I lavlandet er snøen fuktig/våt. I fjellet kan det være hard fokksnø, avblåst til gamle skarelag eller våt løssnø. Hvis det er nattefrost fryser snøoverflaten til skare, som kan tine utover dagen.

Monday 17. April 2023

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from southwest. 0 °C to 5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Generelt stabile forhold og liten skredfare.
Det er usikkert om det blir nok sol til at snøoverflaten blir våt og løs eller om den holder seg gjenfrosset. Der snøoverflaten eventuelt er våt og løs vil det være lett å løse ut våte løssnøskred i bratt terreng.

Det er observert glidesprekker i en del bratte fjellsider. Det er svært vanskelig å forutsi når glideskred løsner. Hold avstand til glidesprekker og skavler.
